Your car. Love it or hate it, you depend on it.
You depend on your car to get you to work. You depend on it to fire up when you turn the key. You depend on it to take you where you need to go. This week’s Friday Frugal Challenge: give back to your car. This is a two-part challenge and it will pay off in peace of mind.
Part one: If your car needs service, do it this week. Oil change? Yes, please. Scheduled service? By all means. Overdue service? No questions asked—just do it.
All set with the service? Move on to Part Two.
Get a tire gauge and check your tires. Properly inflated tires save you money on gas and give you a safer ride. Keep your tire gauge in the glove compartment and check the inflation every week or so—bonus points if you pick a regularly-scheduled day to do so. Friday is my Car Day: I clean out the car, empty the trash, shake out the mats, and now I’ll check the tires.
So this week, my Miata gets her 18,000 mile oil change, tires checked, and a cleaning on Friday. My husband’s Toyota gets new tires. How about your car?
