The Friday Frugal Challenge is for you fast-food junkies. Oh, who am I kidding? It’s for anyone who wants to save some money.
This week, don’t eat any fast food.
No burger-and-fries combos. No mystery-meat tacos. No crispy fried chicken with a big biscuit. This week, skip the drive-through and the long line inside and the polyester-clad foodmongers. Bonus points if you replace your fast-food habit with healthy food, but that’s not even a requirement. Just Say No to the Golden Arches, the cute cows who want you to eet more chiken, the Colonel, and the Hut.
What will you do instead? Here are a few ideas: Eat lunch at home. Eat lunch at the park with a sandwich and some fruit. Have a salad. Bring leftovers to heat up in the office microwave. Cook dinner and actually sit down to eat and enjoy it, rather than scarfing it while you balance your cell phone on your lap and attempt to drive, all at once. Have Fancy Dinner at home with candles and flowers. Dust off the crockpot. Experiment with pots and pans. Have fun with it. If you don’t cook, make friends with someone who does and offer to bring something like flowers or rolls from the bakery or cookies.
How much money will you save by cutting out fast food this week?
